In a recent newsletter, we talked about eating like your ancestors and promoted changing your diet to include more fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds – things that the hunter-gatherer societies ate for hundreds of thousands of years. Hunter-gatherers typically moved around, providing them with the opportunity to eat a wide variety of plant foods, and supplementing their diet with game meats when available. Due to a lack of available medical care, they often died at very young ages from traumatic injury and infection, but their healthy diet and mobile lifestyle afforded them much greater health while they lasted!
